2022 Reading Goals

Writer: Basil ScheuringBasil Scheuring

I've never been one to make goals since I always give up on them immediately, but this year I plan on challenging myself to keep this particular goal.

Goals:

. Check out more books from the library - I don't need to own every book I read

. Read more genres out of my comfort zones - ex: biographies, non-fiction

Booktok and Bookstagram give me true FOMO when it comes to owning physical copies of books, they give me the feeling that I have to buy physical copies so I have an "impressive" TBR. If I don't have a big physical TBR to show off in my social media outlets then nobody will take me seriously as a reader.

With this feeling in mind my biggest goal for 2022 is to check out books from my local library.

Pros:

. If I don't like the book I won't feel bad about DNF'ing it since I didn't pay for the book

. Supports my library

. Save money

. Meet more people in my town that like to read

Cons:

. Not owning the book if I do like it (of course I can buy a copy for my kindle if I wanted to but that's not the point here)

. The book isn't readily available to check out

I'm excited about this goal but also very anxious that by February I'll be bored and the FOMO from social media will get to be too much. I just need to stay strong and by posting this on the blog it'll help keep me more accountable.
